We as humans have been given a wonderful gift by our Creator–that being the ability to choose our own thoughts. By choosing what to think about, or to focus on, we can shape our future events. Sounds illogical? Well think about it, when you are “down” and mull this line of thinking for an extended period, what happens? That depression seems to go on and on. But if an external event comes along that forces you to get out of your funk, and you therefore are focusing in a new direction, this causes you to have a different type of experience. To the extent that you focus on the new possibility, you cannot maintain two opposing thoughts at once. This for the period of your new focused thought, will cancel out your previous “depression.”
By choosing what to focus on–pleasurable thoughts; this will color your future experiences. By choosing our thoughts correctly, it makes for more happiness and keeps us young.
